Well it was all happening in Mansfield this morning.  The Australia Day long weekend has seen an influx of visitors into town looking to enjoy the rivers, lake and countryside.  In addition the weekly Park Run was on at the Mansfield Botanic Park along with the Bush Market.  The official Australia Day ceremony took place in the main street and was well attended by locals and visitors alike.  After introductions by Alex Green, Mayor Cr. Harry Westendorp introduced Australia Day Ambassador Mr David Jacka.

In Mansfield's unique way the flags were delivered on horseback before the firing of an historic canon by the Colonial Reenactment Society much to the shock of the tourists.

We welcomed our newest citizens before presentations to the winners of the Citizen and Community Event of the Year awards.  It was wonderful to hear about each of the recipients and the contributions they have made to the community.  If you were not present its worth a look at the video footage that can be seen at the Mansfield shire Facebook page. Thank you to all the volunteers, the shire, award recipients and the Australia Day Ambassador.
