Gotta love clients who embrace some of my crazy ideas for photos!

Me: "Rach, I've come up with an idea for a family portrait."

Rach: "Ok."

Me: "Do you know the Vanity Fair style images that many wedding photographers are doing at the moment? You know where the bridal party is posed individually, they are quite formal in nature, dark backgrounds and where dramatic lighting is used? I thought we could photograph your family, in their farming attire in the shearing shed using the same style?" I then show Rachel a couple of sample pics.

Rach: "Sure why not?!"

Without hesitation Rachel went along with my idea, rounded up the family, a few dogs and at the last minute a lamb (Bruce) and we set about creating something unique.

The Set Up

This video was recorded just prior to the shoot and shows some behind the scenes and describes how I planned to achieve the desired result.

Vanity Fair - Shearing Shed Set Up

Behind the scenes look at a Vanity Fair inspired farming family portrait in a shearing shed.

I don't often get in front of the camera but I'm glad I decided to jump into this shot. After working with this beautiful family, capturing their life on the farm over 12 months, this image is very special to me.  Clearly though, Rachel and I could have done a wardrobe check before the shoot! LOL.
