Hunter - Black German Shepherd - Studio Session Mansfield

This is Hunter. Hunter is a Jet black German shepherd, 13 months old and weighs in at almost 45kgs.  Thats a lot of dog! 

Hunter came into the studio and was a little excited about one of our large canvas prints of a boxer puppies we had on display.  Once we moved through to the back of the studio he was quickly forgotten.  

There are lots of challenges photographing pets in a confined space and for Hunter being still a pup, he was very enthusiastic and bounded up and down from our platform unable to sit still for very long. Our platform is very sturdy and designed to hold adult males so was up to the task.

Renee (Hunter's mum) had experienced difficulty photographing Hunter due to his colouring but we decided that black on black would be striking.  He was lit from both the front as well as having a rim light to separate him from the background.  The below image was printed for Renee a 20 x 30" acrylic wall art.

Studio lighting can very occasionally distract animals but for Hunter it was the 'beep' of the auto focus on the camera that led him to bound off the platform and chew playfully at my ankles!  Described as 'goofy' by Renee, Hunter was was clear that Hunter was still just a puppy inside a very big frame. I think the image below shows just how big Hunter really is.

We were cleaning up lots of hair after Hunter left and had to do the odd bit of photoshopping of his tongue which had also accumulated lots of black hair.
