Jetty on dam in Mansfield - by Equine Construction Solutions

Just over 12 months ago we made the tree change from the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne to a property in Mansfield that came with its own dam. No dam is complete without a jetty and I found the perfect excuse to have one built.  Our son and his fiance are due to be married on our property in the near future and how beautiful would wedding photos be on the jetty?! In fact why not even have the ceremony there?

A google search for 'dam builder Mansfield' yielded no results so still being a newby to town I posted in the local Mansfield Business Facebook group if anyone knew of a local business that would build a jetty.  To my surprise I received one response from a company called Equine Construction Solutions.  A search of their website and social media pages showed that true to their name they build structures for all things equine but also decks, renovations, extensions and the list goes on. 

After an initial phone call Daryl and Andrew came out to the property and spent time discussing what we wanted and how they would proceed. We felt comfortable straight away that our build was in good hands and before long the first stages of the jetty construction were underway.

With the dam almost at capacity it was sad to see the water being pumped out to allow for the construction. We took comfort however in knowing that the run off would benefit our neighbours dams and beyond that it would feed directly into lake Eildon.

As the water subsided we got a good idea of exactly how large the dam is. After 3 days of a pump working along with a series of syphons the dam still retained a significant amount of water. The boys took a kayak to the centre of the dam and still couldn't reach the bottom with an oar.

The real work however began with the removal of some of the reeds at the bottom of the row of ornamental pear trees that lead to the dam.

Each night we would return from work to see some new developments. Unfortunately I was unable to capture the boys installing the posts but they tell me they were wading in mud to get them in.

With the bearers in we finally got an idea of the size of the structure.

Our resident Kookaburra could often be seen in the surrounding trees checking out the progress.

There is still a bit of work to do to rehabilitate the area but by in large the project is complete.  Now all we need is a wooden dinghy to go with the jetty.

We are extremely happy with the work done by Daryl and Andrew from Equine Construction Solutions and discovered after the project was underway that they had also recently completed a kitchen renovation for friends at the Police Ski Club who can't speak highly enough of them.
