Shadowfax winery was the perfect location for Melissa and Blakes wedding ceremony and reception. Chosen for its location, its gardens, amazing tree lined driveway and its barrel room, their plans were almost dashed when just months before their wedding Shadowfax had a major kitchen fire requiring substantial repairs and renovations. Unsure whether they would be up and running in time, The Pavilion at Werribee Mansion kindly offered an alternative venue.

Fortunately the renovations went to plan with Melissa and Blake being one of the first couples to enjoy the new facility.

Melissa looked stunning wearing a strapless gown with fitted laced bodice and embellished waistline and a soft pink flowing dreamlike chiffon skirt. Topping off the fairytale Melissa wore sparkling red shoes reminiscent of "Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz".

When we first met Melissa she emphasised how important photography was to her and using various elements in and around the venue including the tree lined driveway, barrel room and gardens.  With a late ceremony and very little time for photos before the beginning of the reception we suggested a "first look" where Melissa and Blake see each other for the first time before the ceremony.

With the rain holding off the ceremony took place in the gardens overlooking the vineyard in front of family and friends. Despite feeling unwell on the day, Melissa and Blakes daughter Amelia (Milly) was and integral part of the day as flowergirl.

The barrel room at Shadowfax Winery provides a great photography opportunity. Exposing for the tungsten lights in the background provides a warmth to the images belying the reality of the cool conditions required for the wine.  The barrel room at times is also used as the alternate location in the event of inclement weather.  A welcome added bonus to the barrel room is the bright red staircase which provides a striking backdrop for some dramatic images.
