The town of Mansfield and wider Police Service Area of Benalla came together today to remember Police Officers throughout Australasia who have given their lives in the line of duty.  As an ex Victorian Police Officer, Remembrance Day holds special significance and as new comers to Mansfield it was lovely to see the community gather together for the Remembrance Day Service.  The service was appropriately held at the monument in the middle of town erected in memory of three officers Michael Kennedy, Thomas Lonigan and Micahael Scanlan who were murdered at Stringybark Creek in October 1878 by the Kelly Gang.

The service was led by Reverend Eden Nicholls and we were welcomed by Inspector Troy Hargadon.

Cr. Paul Volkering, Mansfield Shire Major led the community response in appreciation of the role police play in our society.

Sgt Nathan Pelling read the Rolls of Honour.

Sgt Robyn Reed read the Victoria Police Prayer while Sgt Mark Ross read the Victoria Police Ode.

Pipers Gilbert Smith and Richard Driver played Amazing Grace.

Thank you to all those who organised and participated in this mornings services.
